Welcome to Marjie Bakes

Where Everything is Freshly Baked and Made with Love

A Sweet New Chapter: The Start of Marjie Bakes

If someone had told me a few years ago, when I first retired, that I’d one day be turning my homebaking into a little business, I don’t think I’d have believed them. Retirement gave me time to slow down, to enjoy life a bit differently, and to rediscover the small things that make me happiest. And for me, one of those things has been baking.

Over the years, my kitchen has been the heart of so many memories — family favourites, new recipes, the odd disaster that still makes me laugh, and those bakes that seemed to disappear the moment they hit the cooling rack. Baking has been my way of showing love, marking celebrations, and bringing people together.

Somewhere along the way, though, I realised it had become more than just a hobby. Friends and family kept saying, “You should sell these!” and after hearing it enough times — and feeling that little spark of excitement myself — I started to wonder… why not?

So here I am, starting Marjie Bakes, a brand‑new venture at a time in life when I finally have the space to enjoy it properly. No rush, no pressure — just the joy of creating something from scratch and sharing it with others.

I’ll be selling online and at local markets, festivals, and fairs, which I’m genuinely excited about. There’s something lovely about setting up a stall, chatting to people, seeing their reactions, and being part of the buzz of a real community. It feels like the right place for Marjie Bakes to begin.

I’m learning as I go — everything from packaging to pricing to perfecting recipes — but it feels good. It feels right. It feels like a new chapter that’s been waiting patiently for its moment.

Thank you for being here at the start of this adventure. I can’t wait to share more, one bake at a time.

Here’s to warm ovens, full hearts, and sweet new beginnings.

I intend to give updates on progress regularly on my blog page so please it check out.

My first blog explains my baking schedule and how to order on line.

Marjie’s brownies are my new obsession—rich, fudgy, and baked with such care, they taste like a warm hug.
